My Background

Daniel Hernandez, CA Insurance Lic #0K95133, a native of Tyler, Texas, retired from pro soccer in 2012 after a successful 15 year career. In 2009, Daniel returned home to Texas to sign with Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas. Daniel led FC Dallas, as captain, to a 2010 Western Conference Championship and only trip to MLS Cup in club history. Throughout his career the veteran has appeared in four MLS Championship matches. In MLS, Daniel played for L.A. Galaxy, Tampa Bay Mutiny, NY/NJ MetroStars, New England Revolution, and of course, FC Dallas.

Aside from his success in Major League Soccer, Daniel is a former U.S. Men’s National Team player and is widely known in the Hispanic community for playing in Mexico’s Primera Division (Jaguares, Puebla, and Necaxa).

Daniel continues to be a leader in the community, assisting in a number of causes, most recently alongside Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings in the' Dallas Men Against Domestic Abuse' Rally. He was also the National Celebrity Ambassador for the Dana and Christopher Reeve Foundation from 2010-2014, and currently continues to work closely with this foundation. Daniel currently sits on the Sunnyvale Education Foundation Board and the Sunnyvale School Health Advisory Council.

Daniel played collegiate soccer and football at Southern Methodist University. While attending SMU, he was a three time First Team All American for the Mustangs and 1997 National College Player of the Year. Daniel returned to SMU after retiring from soccer to finish his B.A. degree in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs in 2013. He was inducted into the SMU Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2016.

Beyond his many accolades, Daniel will tell you that his greatest accomplishment in life is being a loving father to his three beautiful daughters.

While playing professional soccer, Daniel became a client of New York Life.  After experiencing such great things as a client and understanding the financial strength and greatness of the company, he decided to become a licensed agent with New York Life in 2014, as a Financial Professional after graduating from SMU.  He has since worked diligently with families all over the country providing them with Solutions to their personal financial goals.

Daniel focuses on individuals, families, business owners, and works directly with professional athletes. He designs specific strategies for individuals through Life Insurance to provide guaranteed* protection and supplemental retirement income**.

Daniel has been extremely motivated in his financial career by providing financial Solutions to individuals such as his own brother, who became paralyzed after a horrific car wreck in 1998.  After receiving a financial settlement, his brother used financial solutions through a structured settlement in order to ensure that his financial future was taken care of for the rest of his life.  Daniel knew then that he wanted to provide others with that same financial security that was provided to his own brother.
